I Found It!

This took a long time to find and I want a good place to store it.

The best way for an author to deal with Hollywood, Ernest Hemingway supposedly once said, was to stand at the Nevada border, throw your book over the fence to California, have them throw the money back, then run like hell.

Saint Odd

I guess I’ll post this here because no one will read it and I can still get this off my chest. I read (okay, listened. I love Audible dot Com) to Saint Odd by Dean Koontz. I was looking forward to the story because it was hyped to be the last Odd Thomas story.

It is. He dies. Everyone, including Odd knew it was coming. It happens. After recently killing off one of my main characters I understand that. What I am taking issue with is the way it was done.

The audio book was 9 plus hours long. The end came about 30 minutes before the end of the book. It happened quickly with no lead up or suspense just Bang, you’re dead. He also took out a supporting character who, near as I can tell was only in the book to die at the end too. There was a LOT of running around prior to the end and I got real tired of it. Hours of description that I honestly didn’t care about.

Bottom line: I feel cheated and empty.

I pray every day that my stories never make anyone feel cheated or empty. I have long been a fan of Mr. Koontz but it will take something special for me to pick up any more of his stories. Sorry Dean.

Some books are to be tasted,

others to be swallowed,

and some few to be chewed and digested.
